If you are looking for a sport that involves gentle exercise Movement, Skills and is supported by an active Social Scene then take a look at the game of bowls and join us at MIBC.
We offer free trial lessons throughout the season. The lessons are relaxed, helpful and run by our friendly experienced bowlers. Please contact us for more information.
Facilities
We are very proud of the Facilities on offer at the club, Our traditional purpose built club house has a dining and social area capable of hosting events for over 40 people. Our Private Members bar is fully licensed, well stocked and enjoyed by members and visitors to the club. The south facing veranda looks out onto the club grounds and so a relaxing drink whilst playing or watching a game of Bowls is definitely on the menu .The natural grass playing surface (Green) is tended throughout the year by our expert ground staff and continues to be the highest quality and the envy of local clubs.
Our Members include both bowlers and social members, we take pride in being a fun, friendly, and inclusive club that welcomes families and individuals alike. Whether you’re here for the sport, the social connection, or both, you’ll find a warm welcome at Mersea Island Bowling Club.
Outdoor bowling season.
Our Outdoor bowling season runs from April to September, We offer a variety of games and events through out the season:
- Social Bowling: Enjoy Club Roll ups on Mondays and Fridays, weekend and Bank Holiday drives, and friendly matches with other local clubs.
- Casual Bowling: Drop in anytime for a relaxed game on an available rink.
- Competitive Bowling: The club supports Members wishing to Participate in Club, Colchester Borough, Essex County, or National competitions as an individual or team member. You may also represent the Club in league play or other events.

Mersea Island Bowling Club is located on Yorick Road, West Mersea, just 9 miles south of Colchester. We offer ample parking both on-site and along Yorick Road.
As part of the vibrant Mersea Island community, especially lively in summer, we recommend checking tide times if you’re visiting.
Founded in 1932, Mersea Island Bowling Club is a vibrant, member-owned community steeped in history.
